Where is our fine cacao from?

 

Copan in Honduras

BEO & Coagricsal is a cooperative of 800 small cacao producers in the western part of Honduras. Their award winning cacao is a blend of Trinitarios & Criollo (pronounced cree-yo-yo) under the following certification:

• Organic • Fair Trade Certified • Rainforest Alliance • UTZ Certified

Coagricsal  is a cooperative with social and environmental responsibility, job creation, and development of social projects like:

• participant in the Campaign of No Child Labour
• access roads
• community centers
• potable water
• medical and eye care for cacao producers and their families
• school maintenance
• police stations

On the environmental front, Coagricsal has a reforestation project in its farming community.  Coagricsal diversifies their crops to provide greater benefits for farmers. Cacao is being produced under shade taking into account the legacy of their Mayan ancestors.

 

Hacienda Jesus Maria in Tabasco, Mexico

Hacienda Jesus Maria is an organic cacao family farm owned by Rosa Maria Cacep Peralta and operated with her son Vicente Alberto Gutirrez Cacep.

Located on the "Cacao Route" near Comalcalco, the Northern region of the state of Tabasco, Mexico. Tabasco is not just a hot sauce, it is also the heart of the Mayans civilization!

Hacienda Jesus Maria grows Trinitario and Criollo cocoa. Criollo is considered the highest quality and has the most amazing flavour, aroma, and texture due to its high levels of fat content while Trinitario blend has a spicy tabacco flavour which is typical of what you would expect from a Mexican chocolate.

La Hacienda operates their organic cacao farm ensuring that their daily activities coexisting in harmony with the surroundings and the environment. Their objective is to rescue and promote the cultural values that characterize their company as well as to preserve and make people aware of the ecology.

 

Ucayali River Cacao in Pucallpa Peru

Ucayali River Cacao is a central fermentation plant that works with organic cacao farmers along the Ucayali River. Supporting near 400 smallholder farmers with one to three hectares of land each.

Ucayali River Cacao is an international award winning fine cacao and we feel very fortunate to have our hands on this cacao!

Karkar Island in Papua New Guinea

Grown amongst coconut groves on the fertile slopes of one of the most active volcano of this culturally rich land, this organic cacao has the most exquisite flavours of wine and bread. Here at Petite Patrie, we sweeten our chocolate just enough to unlock and celebrate those dynamic notes.

Dak Lak cacao is an award winning cacao which has earned 10 prestigious awards at the world's leading chocolate competition in the UK - Academy of Chocolate.
